Our 5th year of free after-school tutoring is off to a great start. The Homework Room has really become a staple for kids in the Parramore neighborhood. In fact, they are willing to battle ankle-deep water and crazy rainstorms just to do their homework with us! Luckily the rainy season is ending, but tutoring must go on! And we’d like to see more tutors–or, as we like to call them, architects–helping out our awesome kids.
Why do we call tutors “architects”? Simple: calling our tutors “volunteers” wouldn’t be doing them any justice. No, as a Page 15 tutor, you are not only helping students with homework (which is already amazing!), but by helping build the scaffolding that allows students to be self-sufficient learners, you are etching your initials onto the cornerstone of their educational foundation. This is why you are an Architect!
