WE TRANSFORM YOUNG LIVES THROUGH THE POWER OF WORDS
Page 15 serves hundreds of children and teens every year, many who are dealing with poverty, personal trauma, discrimination and learning disabilities. While our programs can’t solve the systemic challenges these students face, empowering them to write and share their stories leads to meaningful, measurable impact including:
Frequent and sustained writing practice improves students’ writing, reading, and critical thinking.
Publishing and performing their work helps students get more comfortable expressing themselves through writing and speaking.
Through writing and reflection, students learn to identify and manage emotions, process trauma, and envision the future.
Listening to peers' personal stories in a supportive community fosters connection, empathy, and life-affirming relationships.
Enabling students to publish their work and connect with professional authors, editors, and publishers contributes to a thriving literary community.
