September Prompts

Elementary School

Doing new things can be intimidating. We want to celebrate a time when you had to do something frightening, and even if you were nervous, you didn’t give up. Write a short story about a time you were scared, and how you overcame that challenge.

Middle School

We want to hear about a time you overcame a challenge, or worked hard to accomplish something you didn’t think was possible. Write a poem or short story about something you achieved, or someone who helped you during a tough time. No stress, no rules, we just want to celebrate acts of courage (no matter how small!).

High School

People always tell you to write a letter to yourself a year from now; however, we want to look back at where we began. Instead of writing a letter to who you’ll be, write a letter to who you were. This could be from a year ago, a month ago, or even just a few days ago. What advice would you give your younger self, and how do you think they would respond?
