Creative Writing Coach: Page 15’s Young Writers Society program in Parramore provides students in grades 4-8 with opportunities to publish, present, and perform original handcrafted content for their community. No grades. No homework. No pressure.
In this position, you’ll support our after-school Young Writers Society program by:
• Guiding and inspiring students through creative writing activities – Mondays (2:30-5:00), Wednesdays (1:30-4:00)
• Assisting with program logistics, including student attendance and academic improvement
• Helping to complete administrative or operational tasks
• Opportunities to participate in other creative, cross-departmental projects and events
Skills, Qualifications, and Qualities we look for:
• Able to commit approximately 7.5-10 hours per week
• Previous classroom or child-work experience preferred. (Prior experience working with students from underserved communities a plus!)
• Command of the English language
• Collaborative flexible, and enthusiastic team members
School credit is not required
Editing and Publishing Internship:
Every year, Central Florida students are presented with an intriguing and engaging theme and are asked to submit one piece of writing. Fifteen finalists from across Central Florida are selected to be published in a one-of-a-kind illustrated anthology of student writing.
In this position, you’ll support the publication through:
• Reading student submissions for our Anthology project
• Conducting edits on selected submissions
• Assisting in the publication process
• Helping to complete administrative or operational tasks of the program as needed
• Opportunities to participate in other creative, cross-departmental projects and events
Skills, Qualifications, and Qualities we look for:
• Able to commit to approximately 5-6 hours per week
• Strong communication and writing skills
• Editorial skills, including knowledge of modern English grammar
• Be a collaborative, flexible, and enthusiastic team member
• Fulfill every shift with adequate time management and productivity
Page 15’s popular Young Writers Summer Camp gives authors in 3rd–12th grades the opportunity to write, illustrate, and publish their very own book with help from an amazing community of published authors, editors and illustrators. We offer two types of internships for this program.
Creative Writing Coach: Interns will help take students beyond reading and writing, giving authors 3rd through 12th grade an opportunity to write, illustrate, and publish their very own book!
In this position, you’ll support our Young Writers Camp by:
• Guiding and inspiring students aged 8-18 through creative writing activities.
• Assisting with program logistics including student attendance and talking with/informing parents.
• Helping to complete administrative or creative production tasks.
• Ensuring the creative space is well-maintained, clean, and organized
• Opportunities to participate in other creative, cross-departmental projects and events
Skills, Qualifications, and Qualities we look for:
• Committed to up to 20 hours per week, from 8:00 am – 1:00 pm Monday – Friday. The week of June 24th – 28th will have slightly extended hours. The exact times have not been determined yet.
• Able to travel to UCF’s Downtown Campus: 500 W Livingston St, Orlando, FL 32801.
• Committed to attending five to seven weeks of our summer programming.
• Able to attend our two-day orientation on May 28th and 29th.
• Can successfully complete a Level II background check prior to beginning programming (at no cost to you).
Graphic Designer: Graphic Designers meet with each young author to bring their creative vision to life.
In this position, you’ll support our Young Writers Camp by working one-on-one with young authors (ages 8-18) to design the cover of their books. You’ll work with 6-8 authors for 10-15 minutes each.
You must be:
• Able to travel to UCF’s Downtown Campus: 500 W Livingston St, Orlando, FL 32801.
• Available from 9am-12pm for at least three or four of the following dates: June 5th, June 12th June 19th, June 26th, July 10th, July 17th, July 24th
• Each designer must have access to and experience with Photoshop. Book templates and a design guide will be provided

• Previous classroom or child-work experience preferred. (Prior experience working with students from underserved communities a plus!)
• Command of the English language
• Collaborative flexible, and enthusiastic team members
